Coming from a family of police officers, Camryn has always known about Answer the Call. Though an avid runner for her entire life, she rediscovered running two years ago when she ran her first half marathon in Brooklyn, New York! It was a difficult course to navigate, with many rolling hills, but she loved the scenic views the race had to offer.
Camryn recently participated in the TCS New York Road Runners’ 9+1 program, running in nine qualifying races and volunteering at one event. Her participation secured her spot in the 2026 United Airlines NYC Half Marathon.
This year’s harsh winter in New York City has really made training tough. The slick sidewalks and freezing temperatures often pushed her training indoors, on the treadmill. She tries her best to get outside, but the recent blizzard has not been much help! With the snow melting, she is looking forward to warmer weather ahead!
Running with her friends and family has always helped push herself. Her dad is a lifelong runner, and his influence is how Camryn started running too. She will be running with him this March! Camryn’s friends will be running too, but with each keeping to different paces, they won’t be sticking together for very long! While she looks forward to starting the race with her father and friends, Camryn enjoys focusing on her own pace as she runs.
Camryn’s music is important to her on each run. Her long playlist is filled with songs that she said, “makes me want to run through a brick wall!” Her two favorite songs to listen to while running are Coldplay’s Viva La Vida, and Under Pressure by Queen. After a long run, her favorite go-to meal is always a bagel and iced coffee.
To the families that Answer the Call serves, Camryn shares, “Of course, I hope they always have people in their corner always wanting to support and help them. And always be proud of their family members who passed. It’s nice they have people continuing to look out for them.”
Thank you for running for Answer the Call, Camryn! We hope you have a great race!
