The New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides financial assistance and a network of support to the families of NYC police officers, firefighters, port authority police officers, and EMS personnel killed in the line of duty.
How We’re Different
We not only provide immediate support to families when they lose a loved one in the line of duty, but we also provide assistance for the rest of the widow or widower’s life.
In addition, because we serve the families of multiple departments (NYPD, FDNY, and PAPD), we are able to provide these families with a much larger network of support. Many of our beneficiaries have become close friends with other families that they otherwise would have never had the opportunity to meet.
Although the departments and unions of the NYPD, FDNY, and PAPD have been wonderful advocates for our organization and mission, we are a separate and independent entity that does not receive government funding. All of the services we provide are made possible by the collective effort of our donors, volunteers, and staff.
The video features widows of first responders who lost their lives in the line of duty. Also featured are the NYPD Commissioner, FDNY Commissioner and PAPD Superintendent.
