Meet our 2026 TCS NYC Marathon Team: Steve Savarese

Steve Savarese started running about two years ago after being inspired by his wife, an experienced marathon runner. Watching her take on races motivated him to lace up his own running shoes and challenge himself in a new way. Since then, he has completed several half marathons and is excited to continue building on his running journey.

As Steve prepares for race day, his biggest challenge will be balancing training with an exciting new chapter in his life. He and his wife recently welcomed their son, Roman, making time management more important than ever. Fortunately, Steve is no stranger to pushing himself. Having grown up playing a variety of sports, his competitive nature drives him to keep going during difficult runs and continually work toward improving his performance.

While Steve will be running the marathon on his own, he has a friend on the Answer the Call team who will also be participating. His friend is a bit faster, giving Steve even more motivation to stay focused throughout training.

Outside of running, Steve enjoys playing hockey, working out, and spending time with his wife, friends, and dog. His running playlist changes depending on the day. During training runs, he often listens to Zach Bryan, while race days call for something a little more upbeat to keep his energy high.

Steve first learned about Answer the Call through colleagues in the insurance industry and became more involved after serving on the Host Committee for Answer the Call’s Annual Red & Blue Soiree. He now serves on the organization’s Associate Committee.

After a long run, Steve likes to keep things simple. His favorite post-run meal is a classic bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich.
