Kristina Doran can’t wait to run her first marathon this fall with Team Answer the Call!
Kristina started running in college. She went to school in Boston and lived by the Charles River, which inspired her to pick up running. Now residing in Texas, she has joined a running group. Kristina previously completed two half marathons and is now ready to take on a full marathon in New York!
Texas heat is no joke, and that has been tricky to navigate at times during the warmer training season. To best approach training, Kristina altered her schedule and trains with her group between 4:00 – 4:30 am to avoid the heat. Given the opportunity to run in the TCS New York City Marathon because of the lottery system, Kristina reminds herself how lucky she is to get to do this. And originally being from New York, it means so much to her to have this opportunity!
Upon reviewing the list of organizations to sponsor, Answer the Call caught Kristina’s attention. Having several family members that are first responders and wanting to be a positive advocate for their dedication and service, Kristina confidently chose to support Answer the Call.
In her free time, which is more sparing nowadays in the heat of training, Kristina enjoys reading (especially thrillers) and traveling. Her go-to food of celebration after a long run is always tacos. Given the hot and humid climate of Texas, a cooled patio with tacos call her name after a successful run.
To the families that Answer the Call serves, Kristina shares, “It’s an honor to run for a charity that supports them. You are so strong and such a source of inspiration when running this race.” We are excited to see Kristina take on the TCS New York City Marathon this November!
