Madison Ramer is proud to be running her first New York City Marathon this November representing Answer the Call.
Experienced in marathon running, Madison has previously participated in the Los Angeles and San Diego Marathons. She noted that her mom, an avid runner, has always modeled the running lifestyle and encouraged her to take it up. While Madison has taken breaks from running throughout her life, she’s returned to it and now enjoys running for fun and consistency.
Although running brings a lot of joy to her life, the balance between life, work, and training has been a learning experience. As her training mileage builds, the physical toll of long runs intensifies. Yet Madison’s confidence in her ability to complete the NYC Marathon, coupled with the reward of a burrito, bagel, or sweet treat after a demanding run, keeps her pushing forward.
When starting her playlist for a run, Madison enjoys a wide range of artists and genres but Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour album has a special place in her running rotation. And aside from running, Madison lives on the coast and the beach is where you can find her on a free day. She loves to spend time by the water with her dog and fiancé when the weather is nice.
In planning her New York City Marathon run, Madison felt drawn to support an organization associated with first responders, given that her fiancé serves in the Los Angeles Fire Department. This brought her to join Team Answer the Call, and we couldn’t be more excited!
Like many partners of first responders, Madison understands the weight that comes with her fiancé leaving for a job marked by unpredictability and sacrifice. Madison shared how being in the first responder community has been so encouraging and incredible, as “it’s been like a second family, which is so necessary to keep you sane.”
To the families of fallen first responders, Madison shares: “You have gone through the most unimaginable thing possible, and this is the least I can do to show my support.”
