Megan Vaccaro is thrilled to be running her very first marathon this fall with Team Answer the Call!
She began running in February 2024 as a way to stay healthy after recently welcoming her third child. Since then, she has completed the NYC Half, the Yonkers Half, and the Disneyland Half Marathon earlier this year. Megan is excited to take on the challenge of the full 26.2 miles this November.
With three young children at home, a full time job, and her husband also training for the TCS New York City Marathon, Megan’s biggest challenge has been finding the time to train. Still, she makes it a priority and hopes to show her kids the value of hard work and perseverance. She wants to show her kids that “even hard things are possible.”
Megan will be running solo while her husband, a lieutenant in the NYPD, runs as well. Her daughters are very involved in her race journey, from cheering her on to making race-day signs. They are one of her biggest sources of motivation when the miles get tough.
On her long runs, Megan listens to Pandora’s Backyard BBQ playlist, which features early 2000s hip-hop and R&B. In her spare time, she loves spending time at Disney and hopes to run the Disneyland Marathon alongside her children one day (well in the future, she recognizes). She is running her first Walt Disney World Marathon in January 2026.
Megan first got involved with Answer the Call as a monthly donor, and although she doesn’t remember how she initially found the organization, it has remained close to her heart. As a District Attorney who works closely with law enforcement, she understands the importance of supporting the families of fallen first responders.
“I want to bring even more awareness to the cause,” she said. “A lot of my friends who are first responders didn’t even know about it. This is a fun and healthy way to make a difference.”
To the families served by Answer the Call, Megan says, “I’m proud to contribute to this cause and help raise awareness. We are all a family.”
