Colin started running while serving in the United States Army, where it was part of his daily routine even though he didn’t enjoy it at the time. After leaving the military in 2019, he stepped away from running for several years before picking it back up to get in shape.
This year’s New York City Marathon will be his first marathon! He says that if he were going to do it, he might as well make it the biggest and
best. This is the first time he has really pushed himself on his own, and he sees it as a way to build greater self-discipline for himself.
His biggest challenge will be finding time to train while balancing his kids, work, and hobbies. Still, he is committed to achieving his ultimate goal: finishing the race.
He first learned about Answer the Call while searching veteran and first responder organizations. The mission resonated with him because his brother is a police officer and his father was a New York City firefighter. Their service has had a lasting impact on him. Seeing his father’s dedication on September 11 inspired Colin to attend West Point and serve his country.
He plans to run with his brother on race day, even if they don’t stay side by side the whole time. For him, it’s about pushing each other all the way to the finish line.
