Running has been part of Delainey’s life for nearly a decade, starting with cross country in high school and continuing through years of staying active in different sports including hockey.
While she has completed half-marathons, the New York City Marathon has always been her dream because of its energy, crowds, and atmosphere. She knew from the start that her first marathon would be tied to a charity partner, so when her sister-in-law’s family introduced her to Answer the Call, she was inspired to take part.
While she feels confident in the physical side of training, fundraising has been her biggest test thus far, but she’s eager to take this challenge on! She sees it as an opportunity to build her networking skills while making a meaningful impact. Her goal is simple: raise as much as possible, learn from the experience, and cross the finish line.
She laughs as she recalls the phrases scrawled in Boston graffiti that keep her grounded and focused: “Don’t let the turkeys get you down” and “Endless Courage.” She’s running for families she may never meet, which makes every mile more meaningful.
Outside of running, she works as a program manager and is newly married. Her husband, a cyclist, has been her biggest supporter throughout her training.
