Meet our 2026 TCS NYC Marathon Team: Haylie Patten-Potter

Haylie first started running in high school while playing competitive soccer. Looking for ways to improve her speed on the field, she incorporated running into her training and quickly developed an appreciation for it. Although she has run on and off throughout the years, completing a marathon has been a goal of hers for the past four years. Now, she is preparing to take on her first major race and is excited to finally make that goal a reality at the 2026 New York City Marathon.

As she begins training, Haylie knows that balancing her busy schedule will be one of her biggest challenges. Finding enough time for strength training and other workouts to support her running can be difficult, but she remains committed to the process. What motivates her most during long runs is the sense of community that running creates. She loves looking around and seeing people of all ages and backgrounds encouraging one another and working toward a common goal. For Haylie, that shared support is one of the most rewarding parts of the sport.

While she plans to run the marathon solo, she will have a strong support system cheering her on from the sidelines. Knowing that friends and family will be there to celebrate her accomplishment makes the experience even more meaningful.

Outside of running, Haylie enjoys spending time outdoors and staying active. She has an English Labrador who accompanies her on many of her adventures, and she loves hiking, paddleboarding, and going on walks with friends. When she is ready to relax, you can often find her watching episodes of The Real Housewives.

During training runs, her playlist is filled with pop music, including artists like Sabrina Carpenter and Addison Rae, along with a mix of other favorite songs to keep her energized.

Haylie discovered Answer the Call while searching for a way to participate in a New York City race. Because her wife is a firefighter, she understands the sacrifices first responders and their families make every day. She was immediately drawn to Answer the Call’s mission and felt honored to support an organization that provides critical assistance to the families of fallen first responders.

To the families Answer the Call serves, Haylie shares, “I cannot imagine what you are going through. Running and fundraising with Answer the Call is a small way for me to give back, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to support you.”

After crossing the finish line, Haylie is already looking forward to celebrating with her favorite post-run meal: a burger, fries, and a good milkshake.
