Madison’s running journey began around ten years ago on her middle school track team and continued throughout high school and college. While she has completed a half marathon before, this year’s race will be her first full marathon.

She says running reminds her that she can accomplish difficult things when she sets her mind to them, and it encourages her not to take her ability to move and be active for granted.
Madison will be running in honor of her cousin, NYPD Detective Brian Simonsen, who was tragically killed in the line of duty in 2019. His memory continues to inspire her. Madison chose to run with Answer the Call because of the organization’s personal impact on her family. Seven years after Brian’s death, Answer the Call continues to support his wife, Leanne. When Madison thinks of Brian, she remembers his positivity above all else. No matter what challenges he faced, he was always smiling and optimistic. Those memories continue to motivate her as she trains.
When she’s not training, Madison enjoys spending time outdoors, including fishing, scuba diving, and snowboarding in the winter. Her running playlist is still a work in progress, but she loves country music for everyday listening and party and club music to keep her moving on long runs. After crossing the finish line, Madison wants to enjoy a good steak!
As she prepares for race day, Madison hopes to honor Brian’s legacy by raising awareness and support for the families Answer the Call serves while accomplishing a personal goal of hers.
