The N.Y. Police and Fire Widows’ & Children’s Benefit Fund mourns the loss of NYPD Officer Didarul Islam
Answer the Call joins all New Yorkers in mourning the heartbreaking loss of NYPD Police Officer Didarul Islam of the 47th Precinct.
Officer Islam, just 36 years old, was tragically shot and killed on July 28, 2025 while trying to keep New Yorkers safe. He was a devoted husband and father of two young children, with a third child on the way. His death is a profound tragedy for his family, the NYPD, and our entire city – he died a true hero.
At Answer the Call, we believe that the greatest way to honor our fallen heroes is to help the people they loved the most – their families. In the wake of this unimaginable loss, we will be providing Officer Islam’s widow with an initial check of $50,000 and are committed to supporting her with an annual stipend (currently $11,000) for the rest of her life.
We will never forget Officer Islam’s selfless sacrifice and we pledge our support to his beloved family.
