How long have you lived in New York – Where did you live before that?

I’ve lived in New York for fifty-five years. Before that I lived in the Republic of Ireland

Where you or any of your family members of the Police, Fire, EMS, or PAPD?

Yes, my father and brothers served as police officers in Ireland

How did you get started with The New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund?

I took part in several of New York Police & Fire’s functions when I was working for Weil. When I retired, Mr. Dannhauser asked me if I would be interested in being treasurer. I’ve been part of New York Police and fire for the past seven years.

Have you ever been specifically helped by a member of the NYPD, FDNY, EMS, PAPD –What happened?

Fortunately, I have never been in a situation where I needed the assistance from any of these first responders. However, that does not mean I do not have a great admiration for them. They put their lives on the line every day for us and that I something I really appreciate.

What is your favorite part of being on the board?

My favorite part of being on the board is the satisfaction that comes from helping these families. We have an office of three employees that work very hard to organize events that help raise funding for our beneficiaries. I am proud that our workforce is always ready to help those who need us.

What is your favorite memory from being on the board?

Some of the most powerful memories I have is delivering checks to widows. This certainly isn’t an easy task but it reminds me of the importance of my work and the impact it has on these families.

If you could tell our beneficiaries one thing what would it be?

We think about you all the time and are constantly working to make sure you get the help that you deserve.

How has being part of New York Police & Fire impacted you?

When I retired from Weil, I didn’t think that I would spend as much time working to help people as I do now. This has truly been a rewarding experience for me as I have helped give back to the people that have given so much to this city.

What is your favorite place to visit in the city?
I love Manhattan! While I reside in Westchester I do believe Manhattan is a great and wonderful place to live.
