Meet Our Marathon Team: Kristie Deptula

After taking up running casually in college, Kristie Deptula has pushed herself harder and to greater heights.  A decade later, she has run in 5ks, 10ks and half marathons.  Kristie does her best to run at least one half marathon a year, and almost always for a cause.  Running for something she believes in gives her the strength to push through physical barriers.

Kristie’s next goal is to conquer a full marathon, and the NYC Marathon is her target.  She first heard of Answer the Call three years ago from her friend Brendan Dunn, a Junior Committee member.  Kristie has since joined the Junior Committee herself.  When it comes to training though she admits sticking to her miles and maintaining a balance with her work will be difficult,  Kristie’s conviction in running for the city’s great first responders motivates her to achieve.  She has already surprised herself with her newfound ability to run such long distances.

Kristie will be running in the marathon with her

longtime friend Megan Breen, who she has known since they were 5 years old.  Megan is a Yonkers police officer, and her choice to put her life on the line every day has inspired Kristie to support the city’s police and fire community.  When Kristie first heard of Answer the Call three years ago, she knew right away that she wanted to be a part of this cause, as it is near to both her and her best friend.  Kristie says that this is her first, and likely only marathon.  Therefore she absolutely wanted to run for a cause that plays a vital role in the city.  We are so honored to have Kristie as a part of our team, and wish her and Megan the best of luck!
