A New York City firefighter from Eastport, NY died Friday morning while hospitalized for a stroke he suffered while responding to a fire, an FDNY spokesman said. Paul Warhola, 47, of Engine 221 in Brooklyn, responded to a 3:30 p.m. Wednesday fire. He became ill and was taken to Bellevue Hospital Center, where his condition worsened. He was a 16-year veteran. Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Warhola is married and has two children, The Associated Press reported. Fire union officials could not be reached for comment Friday on funeral arrangements.
