31st Annual Gala: Watch Daniella Giammona’s Speech

This year at our 31st Annual Gala, Daniella Giammona, daughter of fallen hero FDNY Captain Vincent Giammona, reminisces the positive impact the New York Police and Fire Widow’s and Children’s Benefit Fund has had on her and her family while growing up. Following her moving speech she receives an exciting surprise by Kanicka Ingram-Mann, Senior Associate Director of Admissions from Quinnipiac. We would like to thank Quinnipiac University and Kanicka Ingram-Mann for helping us make this a memorable night for Daniella and her family.

Towards the end of Daniella’s speech, she shares a few lines from an influential and dear poem to her called We Remember Them by Shaun O’Keefe.  Although she gave us a sneak preview of this beautiful poem, below you can read the rest.

WE REMEMBER THEM
By Shaun O’Keefe

In the rising of the sun, and in its going down,

We remember them

In the blowing of the wind and in the chill of winter,

We remember them

In the opening of buds and in the warmth of summer,

We remember them

In the rustling of leaves and the beauty of autumn,

We remember them

In the beginning of the year and when it ends,

We remember them

When we are weary and in need of strength,

We remember them

When we are lost and sick at heart,

We remember them

When we have joys we year to share,

We remember them

So long as we live, they shall live, for they are now part of us as,

We remember them.
