This will be Kylene’s second marathon, the first one taking place only this past April in New Jersey. She thought of it as a warm up for the NYC marathon. She knows that sounds slightly crazy but wanted to ease her nerves going into such a well known race. Running the NYC marathon has been on her bucket list since she was a teenager and thought there would be no better time than right now to finally do it. She has been running her whole life but has only started competing in races in the past few years. She eats the same meal before every race, no matter how long it is. She has grilled chicken and brown rice. You can look out for Kaylene by searching for her Sparkly Soul headband. She never races without one, always coordinating headband to outfit!
These headbands don’t make the race any easier though. Kylene is training hard, trying to find the best plan to start training for a marathon after just recently completing one. She has a goal to finish this race around the 5 hour mark.
Kylene is kept on track with her training because of the cause she in running for. She comes from a family of policemen and firemen. Her uncle, a firefighter, passed away when she was young. She remembers the whole community coming together to support her aunt and their family. Kaylene wants all families to feel that way after losing a loved one so when finding Answer the Call in her search for charities to run for she thought it would be a perfect match. Kaylene wants to make an impact and is looking forward to doing that at the NYC Marathon this year. Go Kylene, go!
