Michael Santos started running three years ago and has since then run two half marathons – one in Newport and one in Jersey City; the NYC Marathon will be his first ever full marathon. This year he will be running alongside Andrew Webber, another member of Team Answer the Call, as long as they are able to keep pace together. The biggest challenge that Michael faces is the consistency with training based on his schedule – with work it’s difficult to train during the week.
Michael aims to keep getting better and consistently pushes himself when it comes to training for the marathon. He learned of Answer the Call through one of our Junior Committee members, Toni Ann Arrigo, as he has been trying to find an organization to partner with. When Michael learned of Answer the Call, it was a cause he immediately became passionate about.
While he runs, Michael listens to anything upbeat like dance or electronic music. After finishing a long training session, he prefers to settle in with pizza. In his spare time, Michael is very big into working out, so he spends a lot of time doing cross-fit or yoga.
To all the families of fallen first responders, Michael wants to say “thank you for the sacrifice that you allowed your family member to make, in order to provide for us, to keep us safe and the city safe.”
