Michael first began running when he joined the United States Army at 18, but about a year and a half ago, he started focusing more seriously on distance running. Since then, he has completed several races, including the Thanksgiving Half Marathon, the NYC Half Marathon, and his first full marathon in Jersey City.
Now, Michael is preparing to take on the New York City Marathon with Answer the Call, whose mission resonates with him personally as an Army veteran, State Trooper, and someone deeply committed to public service. His experiences have helped make him more driven, disciplined, and goal-oriented – qualities that shape the mindset he brings to both training and racing.
Michael typically runs solo and says that pushing through adversity is one of his favorite parts of long-distance running. Although he recently dealt with a minor injury and has had to balance training with a busy work schedule, he is looking forward to taking on his next challenge.
Outside of running and work, Michael enjoys spending time with his daughter, hiking, and tackling projects around the house. For Michael, running the NYC Marathon is not only a personal goal, but also an opportunity to support Answer the Call and the families the organization serves.
